Position: Aids and Adaptations Surveyor
Overview:We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Aids and Adaptations Surveyor to oversee the delivery of property modifications for individuals with disabilities. This role is crucial in improving residents' quality of life by ensuring their homes are adapted to meet their specific needs. The position requires close collaboration with occupational therapists, housing teams, and contractors to ensure high-quality and effective adaptations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage referrals for property aids and adaptations for residents with disabilities.
- Arrange and attend site visits with occupational therapists to assess the suitability of properties for proposed adaptations.
- Provide expert advice on the feasibility of property modifications.
- Gather and present information to assist senior management in making decisions about significant adaptations.
- Refer residents to support teams when relocation to more appropriate accommodation is recommended.
- Assess void properties with housing and occupational therapy teams, providing guidance on their adaptability.
- Prepare detailed specifications for minor and small-scale adaptations, including wet rooms, ramps, widened doorways, and wheelchair-accessible kitchens.
- Inspect and sign off completed adaptations, ensuring they comply with agreed standards and specifications.
- Work with architects, occupational therapists, and residents on large-scale extension projects.
- Manage the adaptations budget, ensuring accurate processing of contractor invoices, addressing discrepancies, and reviewing pricing.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and health and safety regulations.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in managing property adaptations, ideally within housing or public sector environments.
- Ability to assess properties and provide informed recommendations regarding adaptation suitability.
- Strong project management skills, including budget control and contractor oversight.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with sound judgement during construction phases.
- Good knowledge of health and safety standards and building regulations related to property adaptations.
