Financial Controller

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + Bonus + Future Share Options

Location: Remote (Yorkshire HQ)

My client is seeking an ambitious Financial Controller to sit across 2 technology businesses, both in the software space.

The role, evolving into Director-level as both companies scale, is a crucial appointment, where you will work closely with the Founder to develop a Finance function that is value-add, improving systems and processes, creating more visibility for decision making and doing so in a more timely fashion. You will work with existing external accountancy partners with the mid-term aim to transition these services in-house.

Key Duties:

· Forecast and manage financial performance to communicate both the company’s expected and actual financial performance.

  • Analyse and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements adding commentary to aid effective decision making.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors.
  • Analysing and presenting financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Oversee the lead budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Founder.
  • Control the cash flow position.
  • Review and approve all agreements relating to financial obligations.
  • Implement robust contracts management and financial management/reporting systems.

The Candidate:

  • Strong experience in a similar fast-paced role such as Financial Controller, Business Controller, Finance Manager and with exposure to a software/tech/professional services environment.
  • A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with an exceptional track record of working with leadership teams to deliver a high growth strategy.
  • You will have extensive broad financial management experience with ideally 6+ years of experience in a fast-paced technology environment.
  • You will be technology savvy with good knowledge of accounting and reporting software and strong experience in financial modelling of subscription / license business models (MRR & ARR).
  • You will be used to having final responsibility for the quality and the content of all financial data.
  • You will have a successful track record in setting priorities, demonstrating problem solving and analytics skills which support and enable sound decision making.
