Financial Controller

We are seeking a Financial Controller to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of our Finance department. This pivotal role involves overseeing financial department employees, reporting directly to the Director of Finance, and managing all financial and accounting activities.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Oversee the Finance teams, ensuring the completion of tasks such as Monthly Management Accounts, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Annual Financial Statements, Regulatory Reporting, Tax Compliance, and External Bank and Stock Reconciliations.
  • Develop forecasts and budgets to assist and improve cost control.
  • Train, motivate, and evaluate team members, create development and succession plans, and address challenging issues.
  • Maintain and review the accounting system to ensure the integrity of accounting information.
  • Monitor changes to accounting standards and regulatory requirements and ensure they are applied correctly within the firm.
  • Manage the firm’s cash flow and ensure Finance and related risks are managed on an ongoing basis.
  • Liaise with auditors to ensure smooth completion of the annual audit.
  • Report to the Director of Finance with timely and accurate financial information and assist in presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.
  • Update internal working documents to ensure compliance with FCA requirements, including the Branch Manual, Code of Conduct, and T&C Framework.
  • Always ensure confidentiality and protect the reputation of the Firm.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Accounting Qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
  • Previous successful people management experience.
  • Experience working within Financial Services would be desirable.
  • Demonstrable leadership and delegation skills.
  • Ability to coach and support the development of colleagues.
  • Good awareness of HMRC and FCA rules.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills with stakeholders at various levels of seniority.
  • Ability to adapt and use own initiative to solve problems.
  • Understanding of data privacy standards.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Applications (Intermediate level).
