SENDIASS Information and Advice Officer

We are seeking a dedicated SENDIASS Information and Advice Officer to support the frontline delivery of the SEND IAS service in Leeds. This role is crucial as the first point of contact on the service advice line, involving data capture, initial responses, signposting, and triage into the wider service offer.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Respond to voicemails, emails, and web enquiries made to the advice line.
  • Provide initial, general information and advice on SEND processes and topics.
  • Offer appropriate signposting in line with enquiries.
  • Collect and manage service user data in compliance with service policies and GDPR requirements.
  • Conduct triage assessments for enquiries that require additional advice and support.
  • Assist in the delivery of virtual and in-person outreach activities such as information sessions, workshops, and advice sessions.
  • Contribute to writing and updating service resources, managing website content, and posting social media updates.
  • Escalate risks or concerns about safeguarding in a timely manner.
  • Uphold Council Values and comply with all relevant policies and procedures, particularly those related to Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, and Health & Safety.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working as part of a team to deliver on service offers.
  • Understanding of the needs of vulnerable children and their families, especially those with complex and Special Educational Needs.
  • Ability to interpret legislation in a user-friendly manner for families.
  • Skills to defuse potential conflicts and maintain communication with young people, children, and their families.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in collecting and analysing data for strategic monitoring.
  • Good general standard of education, at least to the equivalent of NVQ level 3.
