Reporting to the Head of Site Services your duties will be a combination of in-house production fitting and assembly work and site-work assembly of transformers including fitting, wiring and test at site including the supervising and direction to the site engineers.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • In-house fitting and assembly of various types of distribution and power transformers
  • You will prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools and materials.
  • You will oversee, supervise and where necessary help the site engineers assemble components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies
  • You will be required to travel to third party sites both in the UK and abroad to build up the equipment and test.
  • You will ensure that all equipment is assembled and tested to the highest standard.
  • You will read and understand mechanical and schematic drawings.
  • You will use general workshop machinery and hand tools related to the role.
  • Identify and work with others to resolve inadequate or unclear manufacturing/engineering information.
  • To work abroad on special projects if the need arises.
  • Keep up to date with legislative updates and communications
  • To follow all reasonable requests by Management and Supervisors, to include duties not specified in this job description.
  • You will carry out site auditing in relation to internal health and safety procedures and external auditors when necessary.
  • You will carry out site reporting to the highest standard ensuring all information is passed back to the relevant internal departments.
  • You will oversee and supervise a team of site engineers and subcontractors ensuring they are working to the highest standard to deliver all site related contracts. You will report back any feedback on their performance to ensure progress. You will assign tasks and ensure they have all the necessary resources.
  • You will ensure the safety onsite by identifying and managing potential hazards. You will ensure all workers are complying with health and safety regulations.
  • You will help in the planning and organising of contracts by assisting the project managers to create material BOMs, Programme of Works and the identification of subcontractors/equipment required for the job.
  • You will undertake site surveys and pre start job meetings on behalf of the project managers where necessary.
  • You will monitor the progress of the jobs on site and ensure the work progresses efficiently. You will conduct regular inspections and update the project manager frequently.
