We are seeking a knowledgeable Area Service Manager within Highways with a strong background in asset management, highway engineering, and maintenance practices. This role is ideal for someone with a deep commitment to health and safety and a detailed understanding of highway works and operations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to deliver cost-effective, high-quality workmanship.
  • Lead the service or operational area, including highway winter services, to success.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, CDM legislation, and street works legislation.
  • Utilise your problem-solving skills and technical knowledge to maintain high standards in all projects.
  • Navigate the local government political systems effectively, achieving results in a politically sensitive environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • HND/HNC in Civil Engineering.
  • Strong experience in highway maintenance and construction techniques.
  • Preferred status as an Incorporated Engineer.
  • Experience supervising an operational workforce.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management and excellent communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of CDM legislation and street works legislation is advantageous.
