My Client is seeking a Deputy Manager to join their dedicated team, working towards making Leeds the best city for children and young people to grow up in. They are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and strive for a workforce that reflects the diversity of Leeds. This role requires a proactive individual who can ensure the provision of a safe and stimulating environment for children and young people.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Take an active role in the lives of children and young people, providing good quality care and encouraging positive interaction.
  • Support the Registered Manager in delivering a high-quality service that meets the emotional and developmental needs of children and young people.
  • Lead the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring a safe environment in line with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
  • Organise, deploy, and manage staff, maintaining flexible work patterns and rotas to meet service needs.
  • Manage the physical environment of the home, ensuring health and safety standards are upheld.
  • Oversee care planning and risk management, ensuring individual care plans are developed, delivered, and evaluated.
  • Maintain data and information systems, preparing and presenting reports as required.
  • Participate in appraisal, training, and development activities to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • NVQ Diploma Level 3 in Residential Child Care and the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or commitment to achieve Level 5 within 2 years of starting).
  • A social work qualification is advantageous but not essential.
  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience in residential care within the last 5 years.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and associated quality standards.
  • Experience in care planning, risk management, and case management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and maintaining accurate records in accordance with GDPR.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive information.
