A large Civil Engineering Contractor with a £134million turnover are looking for a Temporary Works Design Engineer to oversee the design team and assist the Design Manager / wider team with temporary works and geotechnical experience in Leeds. They're looking for an experienced individual to work on projects within the tunnelling industry as well as above underground structures and large Infrastructure projects. They offer a variety of excellent work and lifestyle benefits and a competitive salary of up to £60,000 DOE.

The most successful Temporary Works Engineer will be degree educated BEng or MEng level in Civil and/or Structural Engineering with a minimum of 5 years' experience with expertise in underground structures / tunnelling temporary works as well as Network Rail CRE experience.

Temporary Works Engineer Position Overview

  • Assisting in the development and mentorship the team
  • Support for the tendering team developing construction methodology
  • Lead the projects through the preconstruction design phase and Construction phase
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations, design risk assessment processes in line with CDM H&S regulations
  • Coordinate external consultants and third-party checkers
  • Liaison with clients and the project construction teams.
  • Aid tender bids when required
  • Ensuring designs adhere to industry standards, codes, and are checked and approved following company quality procedures.
  • Report writing for client communication and statutory authorities design approvals

Temporary Works Engineer Position Requirements

  • BEng or MEng level in Civil and/or Structural Engineering or similar discipline
  • Working towards chartership, such as the ICE or IStructE
  • 5 + years' experience with expertise in underground structures / tunnelling temporary works
  • Design consultancy environment.
  • High level of technical skill with accomplished structural design skills
  • Ability to help support, mentor and develop junior engineers within the team
  • Sound knowledge with CDM H&S regulations.
  • Excellent written English language and grammar
