A leading construction consultancy is seeking an experienced Building Control Consultant to join their fast growing team in Leeds.

This is an exciting opportunity to not only provide expert building control services but also to take over the leadership of a newly formed BSA Principal Design team.

With the implementation of the Building Safety Act 2022 (BSA 2022), this role is perfect for someone who wants to showcase their expertise in navigating the latest regulations and drive compliance across high-profile projects.

The Building Control Consultant Role

As the Building Control Consultant, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with building regulations, including the new Building Safety Act 2022, across a variety of construction projects. You will play a key role in shaping the newly established Principal Design team, demonstrating how to effectively integrate the BSA 2022 regulations into design and construction processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure projects comply with the latest building regulations, particularly BSA 2022.
  • Lead the new Principal Design team, providing guidance on the implementation of health and safety within the design phase.
  • Carry out detailed site inspections and plans appraisals to ensure building compliance.
  • Provide expert technical advice to clients, design teams, and contractors.
  • Liaise with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices.
  • Mentor and train junior team members on new regulations and building safety processes.

The Building Control Consultant

  • Degree in Building Surveying or a related field.
  • Proven experience in building control.
  • Expertise in the new Building Safety Act 2022 and its implications for the construction industry.
  • Experience in a leadership or managerial role is highly desirable.
  • Chartered Membership with RICS, CABE, or CIOB is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
