Our client is seeking an experienced Shift Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical Bias) to join their facilities management team for a hospital-based contractual role in Leeds. The primary responsibility is overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of critical systems within the hospital, ensuring smooth, efficient operation at all times.

Available Shifts and Location:

  • Shift Pattern:4 days then 4 off then 4 nights- Full-time position
  • Location:LS9 7TF
  • Shift Times:06:00-18:00PM and 18:00PM TO 06:00AM
  • Pay Rate:19.83 per hour (including holiday pay), with the option to accrue additional holiday pay
  • Pay Frequency:Weekly, every Friday before 5 PM
  • Employment Type:Contract (PAYE only)

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Supervise and lead a team of technicians and engineers on shift, ensuring all tasks are assigned and completed to high standards.
  • Maintain and repair essential systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and elevators.
  • Respond swiftly to urgent maintenance issues, such as power outages, equipment breakdowns, or leaks, minimizing disruption to hospital operations.
  • Act as the first point of contact for any critical system breakdowns, ensuring safety and operational compliance at all times.
  • Provide guidance to the team, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Proven experience in facilities management, particularly within a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Previous leadership experience in a technical environment, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Ability to respond effectively and calmly under pressure, especially in emergency situations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
