SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT JOBPRIMARY SCHOOL IN GARFORTH, LEEDS AREA TO START AT END OF SEPTEMBER FOR THE REST OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR Your new companyWe are working with a primary school in the Garforth area of Leeds who are recruiting an SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. They are a welcoming, caring and vibrant school set within a supportive community. They are two form entry and part of a successful multi-academy trust who pride themselves on staff training and development. They describe themselves as a "special place to be", so this is a fantastic opportunity to join a brilliant school and trust/.Your new roleThe role will be based in the Reception and Year 1 classes supporting pupils with additional needs on a 1:1 and small group basis. The role will involve time based in class but also time outdoors and in the school's breakout areas. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to achieve their academic and personal goals. The SEN Teaching Assistant role is due to start towards the mid to end of September and is due to run for the rest of the academic year through to July. Key responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support classroom activities and help create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility needs, if required.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere for all students.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of three months experience working with children, ideally in a school setting, but other work will be considered EG. Coaching or brownies/guides.
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive attitude.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
