Join our Finance team as a Finance Business Partner, where you will play a pivotal role in providing financial governance and control, facilitating the effective delivery of our aims. This position is ideal for someone passionate about Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and who thrives in a dynamic environment focused on professional growth and organisational excellence.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead on providing financial advice to Directorates, aligning short to medium term objectives with available resources.
  • Evaluate financial options for implementing Directorate plans to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Manage the monthly management accounts, annual budgeting, and quarterly forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with business planning and performance driving.
  • Monitor and provide insights on the financial performance of a complex portfolio of funding programmes.
  • Offer expertise and advice on financial matters to drive Directorate performance.
  • Design, implement, and maintain systems to support the Combined Authority in achieving its vision.
  • Take a proactive role in the management of your function, including participation in delivering your directorate’s objectives.
  • Be a visible and enthusiastic manager, promoting partnership working across the organisation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in accounting or equivalent relevant experience.
  • CIMA / CCAB qualified or passed finalist.
  • Strong experience in a similar role, preferably within a Local Authority environment.
  • Deep understanding of financial controls and financial reporting standards.
  • Practical knowledge of CIPFA/IFRS Code.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead financial strategies and manage complex budgets.
  • Excellent communication skills to influence and work collaboratively across departments.
