Join our Finance team as a Finance Business Partner, where you will play a pivotal role in providing financial governance and control, facilitating the effective delivery of our aims. Day-to-day of the role:
- Lead on providing financial advice to Directorates, aligning short to medium term objectives with available resources.
- Evaluate financial options for implementing Directorate plans to achieve desired outcomes.
- Manage the monthly management accounts, annual budgeting, and quarterly forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with business planning and performance driving.
- Monitor and provide insights on the financial performance of a complex portfolio of funding programmes.
- Offer expertise and advice on financial matters to drive Directorate performance.
- Design, implement, and maintain systems to support the Combined Authority in achieving its vision.
- Take a proactive role in the management of your function, including participation in delivering your directorate’s objectives.
- Be a visible and enthusiastic manager, promoting partnership working across the organisation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree in accounting or equivalent relevant experience.
- CIMA / CCAB qualified or passed finalist.
- Strong experience in a similar role, preferably within a Local Authority environment.
- Deep understanding of financial controls and financial reporting standards.
- Practical knowledge of CIPFA/IFRS Code.
- Demonstrable ability to lead financial strategies and manage complex budgets.
- Excellent communication skills to influence and work collaboratively across departments.
