Job Title: Contentious Probate SolicitorLocation: Huddersfield Experience: 2 years + PQEAn amazing opportunity has become available in our clients West Yorkshire branch for a Contentious Probate Solicitor.Your Role:The prime role of a solicitor is to undertake fee-earning work, encourage and promote the image and ethos of the firm and to adhere to agreed practice and procedure as determined.Your responsibilities will include:
  • To assist with Client work as allocated by the Solicitor in charge of the Litigation Team in accordance with the detailed procedures and quality standards contained in the firm’s Office Manual.
  • To ensure all Client work is progressed expeditiously and that the Client is kept regularly informed on progress and on costs.
  • To exercise high standards of Client care at all times in a professional and pleasant manner.
  • To ensure the confidentiality and security of all the firm’s and Client documentation and information.
  • To achieve agreed levels of billing and time recording.
  • To comply with Solicitors Accounts Rules and the rules on Professional Conduct of Solicitors.
  • To maintain clear and precise communications with other personnel of the firm.
  • To ensure good working relationships with external institutions and organisations.
  • As requested, to support, develop and supervise immediate support staff.
  • To take responsibility for and attend to training and self-development.
  • In conjunction with the firm to comply with the relevant training requirements of the Law Society and to assist with in-house training as may be required.
  • In liaison with the Partners to be active in promoting the services of the firm and its image.
  • To undertake any reasonable task as requested.
  • Day-to-day handling of a wide variety of cases.
  • Experience of running own case load and being able to pick up cases partway through.
  • Conduct of matters on behalf of clients.
  • Work as part of the team
Person specification – key skills/qualifications required:
  • Admitted to the Solicitors’ Roll
  • Experience in Contentious Probate Work and/or Litigation is a must have.
  • Ideally 2+ years Post-Qualified Experience (PQE)
  • Commitment to the ethos, values and strategy of the firm.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Computer and Word processing skills essential
  • Organized and self-motivated with the ability to work within a team environment
