Our client is seeking a hands-on Payroll Manager to take full ownership of the payroll function. With over 1,500 employees, this is a fantastic opportunity for a confident payroll professional to make a significant impact in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

This is a standalone role initially, ideal for someone who is self-driven, accurate, and passionate about improving processes and compliance standards.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Running weekly and monthly payroll for both salaried and hourly-paid staff
  • Processing all types of pay including overtime, bonuses, and ad-hoc payments
  • Maintaining payroll records and updating starters, leavers, and employee changes
  • Acting as the go-to for all payroll-related queries and discrepancies
  • Leading payroll-related projects and system enhancements
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with HMRC, PAYE, NIC, RTI, NMW, and pension regulations
  • Supporting audits and risk assessments
  • Collaborating with HR and Operations to align systems and improve integration
  • Reporting and analysing payroll data for insights and improvements
  • Documenting payroll procedures and supporting knowledge transfer across departments

What You'll Need

  • Solid experience in a Payroll Manageror senior payroll role
  • Proven ability to manage both weekly and monthly payroll cycles
  • Strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance
  • Experience leading payroll projects or system integrations
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
  • CIPP qualification or membership(preferred but not essential)
