Town Planner Job in Leeds, West Yorkshire

Town Planner job available with a planning consultancy, working from their head office in Leeds, West Yorkshire. The role offers the chance to be involved in a range of project types across residential developments, commercial, and private clients - providing an opportunity to gain diverse experience whilst earning a salary of up to 40,000 plus bonus, hybrid working, enhanced holiday, private medical, Chartership support, and more!

This planning consultancy offers expert advice and support across a range of sectors, helping clients navigate the complexities of planning policy and development. They specialise in securing planning permissions, delivering strategic site promotions, and providing guidance on urban regeneration, retail, and mixed-use projects. Their approach is tailored to achieve client objectives while balancing economic, social, and environmental considerations. You will be joining an immediate team of 9 but collaborating remotely with the wider team across their other UK offices.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of planning applications, appeals and Environmental Impact Assessments
  • Assist in planning policy and appraisal work
  • Aid in development management tasks
  • Assist in project delivery and coordination
  • Assist in undertaking site appraisals
  • Provide support in delivering strategic and tactical planning advice
  • Take the lead of projects, working with clients and LAs directly
  • Keep up to date on local and NPPF changes
  • Support with business development and representing the company at industry events.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree qualified in Town Planning or similar
  • Experience with managing projects and liaising with clients
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a car strongly preferred
  • MRTPI status preferred, but not essential.

What you get back

  • Salary of 30,000 - 40,000
  • Bonus potential expected to be in the region of 3,000 - 5,000 per annum
  • Holiday of 25 days plus Christmas Shutdown
  • Hybrid working, 3 days in office (Monday compulsory but flexible on two remaining days)
  • Flexible working, typical office hours of 9am - 5:30pm
  • Private medical
  • Support with annual travel pass
  • Support with Chartership if required
