Conveyancing Solicitor – Leeds

A leading award-winning firm in Central Leeds is seeking a talented Senior Solicitor to join its dynamic team as Deputy Head of the New Build Conveyancing Department. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Solicitor looking to step into a pivotal role, offering both leadership and technical expertise. The role is ideal for someone with a strong background in residential conveyancing, particularly in new build transactions, who is eager to take on team management and business development responsibilities.

As Deputy Head of New Build Conveyancing, you will play a key role in the strategic growth of the department. You will be responsible for managing a busy caseload of new build purchase transactions (and related sales), offering technical guidance to junior team members and supporting the Head of Department in the day-to-day management and expansion of the team. This is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership role where you will also support business development, marketing and process improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Fee-Earning & Case Management: Handle a full caseload of new build purchase transactions and related sales
  • Team Management: Provide support and technical guidance to junior team members, ensuring they are equipped to handle a range of conveyancing tasks
  • Business Development: Assist in the strategic growth and development of the department, with a focus on maintaining and building strong relationships with key referrers and clients
  • Strategic Support: Work closely with the Head of Department to enhance systems, processes and regulatory compliance within the team
  • Client Relationships: Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients and referrers, ensuring high standards of service and integrity

About You:

  • You will have significant experience in residential conveyancing, particularly with new build transactions
  • Ideally you will have experience managing a team and guiding junior colleagues in technical matters (although not essential)
  • You will also possess the ability to manage client relationships effectively and demonstrate a strong commitment to business development

Key Requirements:

  • Several years of experience in conveyancing, with a focus on new build transactions
  • Ideally strong team management experience, with the ability to lead and mentor junior staff or a willingness to do this
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a focus on growth and improvement
