Legal Officer (Employment) 35 hours per week Hourly rate: £26.23 - £27.65Location: HQ - Leeds but can work remotely within travelling distance of Leeds Start date: 25/11/2024 End date: 21/02/2025 As a Legal Officer you’ll use your positive attitude, your knowledge of employment law and your ability to deliver legal advice to RCN Officers and Members, and support and representation to RCN members in Employment Tribunal proceedings. The location of the role is negotiable with hybrid working. However, there is a requirement for the post holder to be able to attend one of the following RCN offices on a weekly basis – Birmingham, Bolton, London or LeedsPerson Spec - Qualified Barrister, Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive Expert knowledge of employment law - Relevant post graduate qualification experience in employment law - Experience of managing a large case load with supervision and taking direction accordingly - Ability to advise and represent members on all aspects of employment law. Ability to work and make decisions under supervision taking ownership of when to escalate - Demonstrate initiative - Excellent communication, written and presentation skills - Ability to maintain the highest professional standards whilst working within tight timescales -
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to draft legal pleadings and other documents
  • Ability to manage conflict and retain a positive outlook 
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet and diary software to an intermediate level
