Your new companyNorthern based local authority, with a strong sense of social purpose, playing a crucial role in public services across the local community. The office is well located and easily commutable from both Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield train stations. This council has a robust and well-structured in-house legal team which is growing and looking to appoint specialist lawyers to provide legal support within social services.Your new roleYou will support a busy in-house legal department as a qualified local government lawyer. You will work on a caseload of adult and child safeguarding matters and provide advice internally to council committees and appeals panels. You will be required to attend court hearings and must be available to family courts across the local area.What you'll need to succeedYou will be a qualified lawyer with a valid practising certificate and experience in adult safeguarding matters, childcare protection law and court of protection matters. You will have a good academic record plus strong and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with a good understanding of public law and safeguarding procedures.What you'll get in returnIn return, you can expect to find a supportive and well-structured working environment with a challenging and unique set of tasks.
