SHEQ Manager
Yorkshire - National Travel
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 + Car Allowance/Car

A National, leading company specialising in central government and MOD contracts is currently seeking aSafety, Health, Environment, and Quality Managerto support operations by providing expert guidance and solutions to ensure that work activities are completed safely, in line with current regulations and safety operating procedures. This role involves working with both employees and subcontractors, with a focus on maintaining compliance and safety within the built environment sector.

This position covers Health, Safety, Environment, and Fire responsibilities for contracts based in the defence sector across the Southwest and/or Central regions of England. The SHEF Manager will assist Line Management with the implementation of the Safety Management System and will work closely with operational personnel and contractors to ensure compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage SHEQ activities across built estate contracts
  • Provide general, non-accredited health and safety training as needed
  • Assist Principal Designers and Principal Contractors in their duties
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections across a wide geographical area
  • Take action where health and safety management is failing
  • Contribute to monthly health and safety reports for the contract and business
  • Assist operational managers with client liaison and cooperation
  • Support the audit regime to ensure BS 45001 certification is maintained
  • Lead sustainability initiatives across all contracts

Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH Diploma or Construction/General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • NEBOSH Environmental Diploma/Certificate
  • Preferred: P405 Asbestos Management
  • Fire Risk Assessment accredited qualification (IOSH/BSC)
  • Membership of Association for Project Safety (APS) or equivalent
  • Chartered Member of IOSH (or working towards)
  • Recognised auditor and accident investigation techniques
  • Train the Trainer qualification

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including delivering training
  • Proven experience in health and safety management within construction
  • In-depth knowledge of current health and safety legislation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Full driving license
  • Experience designing and leading health and safety campaigns
  • Environmental management qualifications are desirable
  • Experience working within MOD establishments and operating to BS 45001 standards
  • Skilled in chairing meetings
