Our client, a prominent player in the water industry, is seeking a Temporary Works Designer for their major wastewater infrastructure projects located in Leeds and Preston. This is a contract role under the AMP8 frameworks, suitable for professionals experienced in temporary works design within the water sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and review temporary works designs for wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, and associated infrastructure.
- Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations, BS 5975, Eurocodes, and other relevant standards.
- Collaborate with site teams, contractors, and third-party consultants to provide engineering support.
- Conduct structural analysis and feasibility studies for temporary works solutions such as scaffolding, shoring, propping, formwork, and access systems.
- Carry out risk assessments and ensure designs prioritise health and safety.
- Support site inspections and audits, providing guidance on best practices for temporary works.
- Liaise with Temporary Works Coordinators (TWC) to ensure correct implementation of designs.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience in temporary works design within water, utilities, or heavy civil engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of BS 5975 (Code of practice for temporary works procedures and the permissible stress design of falsework).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, Tedds, or similar design software.
- Experience with load calculations, structural integrity checks, and stability assessments.
- Ability to work remotely with occasional site visits in the Thames/London/Southern region.
- Chartered or near-chartered status (ICE/IStructE) is desirable but not essential.
