We have an exciting opportunity for a Process Technician to join our team in Selby, on a full time permanent basis.

As the Process Technician you will be responsible for working with all departments on technical troubleshooting, problem resolution and process maintenance. You will be coordinating with leadership, engineering, maintenance and production personnel. 

Responsibilities of our Process Technician 

  • Performs all work in a safe manner; promotes and fosters a safe work environment.
  • Provides focused troubleshooting support to keep Selby XPS Line running efficiently and to ensure specified levels of product quality. Develops, plans, and implements improvements based on analytical methods and verifies through production trials.
  • Is directly involved with process improvement, equipment repairs, upgrades and installation projects as needed.
  • Supports the implementation of new or changed processes.
  • Creates, reviews, and monitors adherence to manufacturing and quality standards to optimize cost, productivity and customer satisfaction.
  • Generates and implements training documentation and programs to develop production personnel both technically and in good working practices.
  • Troubleshoots production problems and communicates resolutions with minimal assistance.
  • Maintains run efficiencies for the line and product type.
  • Ensures quality of products on line.
  • Generates and improves production standards and verifies adherence.
  • Supports new product development and new material trials.
  • Assists in production startups and changeovers.
  • Provides input in the generation and manipulation of manufacturing line schedules.
  • Provides technical and management practice recommendations.
  • Communicates daily with shift management to target problem areas and devise action plans.
  • Operates forklifts and other powered industrial equipment safely.

What we are looking for in our Process Technician

You will have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience with business computer applications (Microsoft Office).
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem solving skills & ability.
  • Must be able to effectively operate XPS Foam manufacturing equipment with complete understanding of all involved processes after adequate training
  • Work in a team based environment.
  • Able to work shift schedule, including overtime when needed. May be assigned to other shifts as needed. Shift schedule may include late nights and weekends.
  • Set and manage multiple priorities.
  • Complete forklift certification program.
  • Complete any additional technical program to be provided by the company
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, procedure manuals and scientific articles/papers. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence as well as complex reports to summarize technical findings/achievements. Must be able to communicate orally and written in English.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures by using advanced math skills.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Full driving licence.

Whilst not essential, the following would be of benefit:

  • Knowledge and education on polymer science & technology; knowledge on polymer processing, polymer extrusion and polymeric foam extrusion is preferred.
  • Experience in the use of SAP or similar experience.
