We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Materials Buyer to join our team, focusing on a diverse portfolio of projects that include bespoke new build housing, select social housing developments, and predominantly, prestigious heritage commercial builds. This is a newly created role, born from significant business growth, offering the chance to take ownership of the materials purchasing process and play a key role in our continued success.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Manage all purchasing requirements for a wide range of construction materials.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating favourable terms and ensuring timely delivery.
• Collaborate closely with site teams to understand project needs and ensure material availability.
• Utilize your strong understanding of construction drawings to perform material take-offs and assist with occasional estimating tasks.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of purchasing processes and strategies.
• Work closely with the current purchasing manager and progress within the role.

What We're Looking For:

• Proven experience as a Materials Buyer within the construction industry.
• A strong understanding of construction materials and their applications.
• Experience in purchasing for bespoke construction projects, ideally including heritage work.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and perform material take-offs.
• A proactive and organised approach to work, with a keen eye for detail.
• A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.

What We Offer:

• A base salary of 40,000 - 50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
