Educational Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Support Assistant to join primary schools across Kirklees. This role involves supporting children with additional needs, both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. The successful candidate will be confident in managing challenging behaviour and adapting lessons to meet the needs of each child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support and work with small groups of children with additional needs in primary schools across Kirklees.
- Adapt learning materials and approaches to suit the individual needs of students.
- Support children with emotional, social, and behavioural challenges.
- Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and track progress.
- Work alongside teachers and other school staff to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- Assist with managing challenging behaviour, ensuring a positive and safe learning environment.
- Support children in both academic and social activities, encouraging participation and engagement.
Key Requirements:
- Experience working with children, ideally with additional needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties).
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour and support children in their learning.
- Confidence in adapting lessons and support strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
- A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children.
- Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs (SEN) are desirable but not essential.
