This rewarding role involves working full-time with children and young people aged 3 to 19 with autism and other additional needs. The position is long-term with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the educational and personal development of children with autism and other additional needs
- Assisting teachers with classroom activities, preparation of learning materials, and individualized support plans
- Providing one-on-one support and small group interventions
- Encouraging positive social interaction and communication
- Helping to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including teachers, therapists, and parents to support each child's needs
- Monitoring and reporting on student progress
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly autism, is highly desirable
- A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude
- The ability to work as part of a team
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of students
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or a related field are advantageous
- An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
