About the Role:We are seeking a dedicated and experienced 1:1 SEN Primary Support Worker to support a Key Stage 1 pupil with diagnosed autism. This role is based in Leeds, offering a full-time, long-term position with the potential for permanent employment for the right candidate.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with autism, with a strong ability to de-escalate situations, manage behaviour, and set clear boundaries. You will be working closely with the pupil to help them access the curriculum and thrive in a school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support for a pupil in KS1 with diagnosed autism.
  • Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
  • Set clear, concise boundaries and routines to support the pupil's social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Assist with both academic and personal care needs as required.
  • Foster independence and build confidence in the pupil.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and other staff to ensure tailored support is delivered effectively.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with pupils with autism or other SEN needs, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Strong behaviour management skills, with the ability to de-escalate challenging situations effectively.
  • Active, energetic, and able to remain on your feet throughout the school day.
  • Compassionate and patient with a clear understanding of setting and maintaining boundaries.
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with both pupils and staff.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach to supporting pupils' needs.
