Join Leeds City Council’s Fleet Services as a Fleet Services Technician, responsible for the inspection, servicing, repair, and maintenance of the Council’s fleet of commercial, heavy goods, and specialist municipal vehicles. This role is crucial in ensuring that all vehicles meet statutory regulations and Council policies.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Accurately diagnose faults in vehicles and specialist equipment.
  • Use and care for specialist tools provided for repair and maintenance purposes efficiently.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with specified repair policies.
  • Report defects revealed or observed during any repair process, including recommending preventive work where appropriate.
  • Complete all job-related documentation required for management and charging purposes, including data entry into computer systems.
  • Maintain safety standards by observing all relevant safety procedures, including on-site work as directed.
  • Inspect, service, repair, maintain, and diagnose faults on a wide range of vehicles as directed.
  • Adhere to all managerial directives concerning the use of GPS mobile workshop vehicles.
  • Ensure vehicle repairs are completed within scheduled repair times as documented in ICME, Autodata manuals, and pre-planned services are completed within agreed work times.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in servicing and repairing commercial vehicles.
  • Minimum of 3 years in an approved apprenticeship or a recognised training scheme that is externally tested and validated.
  • At least two years of continuous experience in a commercial repair/service environment.
  • High degree of manual dexterity.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively in both written and oral forms.
  • Numeracy skills sufficient for measuring tasks and tool setting.
  • Knowledge of City and Guilds 4101 Light Vehicle maintenance and repair or equivalent.
