RP Recruitment Group are partnering with a high growth SME manufacturing group to appoint an Accountant. We are seeking a part-qualified accountant to oversee a newly acquired £2m turnover SME. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and liaising with external accountants for statutory compliance and reporting. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive finance professional to gain hands-on experience in a broad role, working closely with senior management to support business growth.

The role is full time, permanent and office based in Oadby, Leicestershire with occasional travel to Scotland once per month. After the successful candidate has settled in there is scope for this to be reduced to once per quarter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Process invoices, payments, and expense reports in a timely manner.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal review and submission to external accountants.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Work closely with external accountants to ensure compliance with tax laws, audits, and financial reporting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory financial requirements.
  • Provide financial data and reports to management to aid in decision-making.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining financial controls and procedures.
  • Support year-end closing activities and external audit requirements.

Key Requirements

  • AAT qualified or Part-Qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent) with ongoing study support available.
  • 2-3+ years experience preferably within a SME
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external accountants.
