RM Recruit are working with a South Leicester organisation to recruit a Financial Controller for their team. Managing a team of 5, and reporting into the Head of Finance, this role holds responsibility for the financial accounting function of the organisation (including subsidiary companies).

The postholder will be responsible for the preparation of year end statutory accounts and regulatory returns and effective financial controls including accounts payable and receivable, balance sheet and investments.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring that financial controls are effective and efficient as to provide sound management information for senior stakeholders.
  • Continual development of finance systems to improve effectiveness, accuracy and control
  • Support the development of Financial Regulations and Procedures including debtors, creditors, credit/purchasing cards
  • Overseeing Nominal, Sales and Purchase Ledgers processes to ensure their accuracy and reconciliation each month.
  • Ensuring that payroll is accurate, properly managed and operated ensuring items such as tax, national insurance and pension contributions are correctly accounted for
  • Completion of Statutory Accounts in accordance with UKGAAP, IFRS and charity SORP and against set timetables and deadlines
  • Co-ordination of the annual audit of accounts and external audit liaison
  • Ensuring all statutory obligations for periodical returns and associated payments are met e.g. quarterly VAT returns, HMRC, pensions etc.
  • Develop and maintain the cash flow monitoring and forecasting system to provide information on long and short-term cash balances.
  • Management and development of the Financial Accounting team
  • Maintain mandate requirements for bank and investment companies, updating as necessary.
  • Close working with the Head of Finance on VAT to minimise the amount of irrecoverable VAT.

This is a hybrid role with 2 days per week required onsite with 3 based from home. This role requires a fully qualified accountant (or significant relevant experience as QBE) and proven experience of preparing statutory accounts in accordance with UKGAAP, IFRS and charity SORP
