Castlefield Recruitment is seeking an Interim Strategic Accountant for a Local Authority on a 3-6 month basis.
The role involves managing the Council's Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS), updating financial planning processes, and preparing the 2025/2026 budget.
Candidates must be qualified with experience in local government finance and proficiency in accounting systems and spreadsheets.
Strong interpersonal skills are essential for liaising with senior management and stakeholders, and the ability to work independently is required.
The salary for this position is competitive, and candidates should have relevant experience in strategic accounting.

Castlefield Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority to recruit an Interim Strategic Accountant on an initial 3-6-month interim basis

Duties include;

Supporting the Head of Finance in managing the Council's MTFS
Ensuring financial systems are being effectively managed
Review and update financial planning processes
Responsible for the 2025/2026 budget preparation and setting
Meeting budget managers

The person;

Qualified
Local government finance experience
Highly proficient on accounting systems and spreadsheets
Can work on own initiative
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with senior management and stakeholders
