Our Leicester based clients leaders in the design and manufacture of point of sale display stands are looking for a Junior Development Designer for their team in a full time and permanent role. You will either have a product design degree or approximately 1 + years hands on experience working in the retail design field, familiar and competent using Solidworks is essential.

The role- As part of the development design team you will be understanding customer needs and translating them into innovative retail display solutions, using SolidWorks.
You will support in taking client supplied design through the development stage. Producing value-add ideas, defining product specifications (material, finish, process, fit, functionality, aesthetic), and developing products that can be effectively manufactured.
Responsibilities
- Working with the client and retailers to better understand the brand and consumer ambition
- Collaborating with other team members to establish and evaluate project requests and deliverables
- Presenting design development proposals (Planogram | Presentations | Build Intent) to approved solutions
- Consider design for sustainability, design for value-add, and design for manufacturing
- Creating development solutions that are innovative, sustainable, cost-effective, and manufacturable
Ideal Skills
- Hold a university degree in Product Design or a minimum of 1 years experience in Retail Development Design
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft office and Solidworks
- Knowledge/experience of materials and manufacturing processes
- Good Judgment and problem-solving skills using logic and reasoning to identify alternate solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good Time Management Skills
- Good communicator internally and able to develop skills to communicate directly with clients in the future
- Enthusiastic, positive and keen to learn and develop as part of a wider team
