We are seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer/Quality Tester to join our technical team at a dynamic retail environment. This role is crucial for ensuring that their electrical product range meets the highest standards of safety and compliance. Day-to-day of the role:- Take charge of the quality and safety approval for the entire range of electrical products, including bespoke items, ensuring they meet UK and EU regulations.
- Evaluate products against industry standards and the General Product Safety Regulations, guaranteeing they are safe and compliant.
- Create and maintain detailed technical files, with a special focus on the safety of imported goods.
- Review and approve product artwork, instruction manuals, and rating labels, ensuring they comply with all legal standards.
- Keep up with industry advancements and legislative changes, sharing your insights with the team to maintain best practices.
- Work closely with external labs, our Far East sourcing team, and suppliers to ensure product compliance and resolve any issues.
- Investigate customer complaints, and resolve out-of-specification products and processes.
- Electrical Product Knowledge: Experience with electrical categories like SDAs, heating, cooling, lighting, and home/garden products is a plus.
- Legal and Technical Savvy: A strong grasp of UK/EU product safety regulations and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Skills to Succeed: Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills. Proficiency in IT tools like Word and Excel and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience in a technical or QA role within an electrical category is a bonus.
- Additional Knowledge: Experience with other product areas such as chemicals, toys, or textiles is beneficial but not required.
