Location: East Midlands
Our client is an independent growing adhesive manufacturing company who manufacture and supply solvent based and water based adhesives to many diverse industries in the UK and worldwide. They are looking for a talented Chemist to undertake product development, technical support of customers and identification of new applications.
Summary of Role:
The Chemist will play a crucial role in driving growth and ensuring the continued success of the company through innovative product development, identification of niche market applications, and providing technical support to the sales team, production staff, and customers.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop new products, including conducting tests, producing Material Data Sheets (MDS), and supporting labelling requirements.
- Evaluate New Product Development (NPD) proposals by analysing costs and assessing resource availability.
- Identify new niche applications for existing and new products.
- Source new materials and manage supplier relationships to ensure quality and availability.
- Provide technical support to customers by addressing their inquiries and offering solutions.
- Collaborate with and train sales staff on new products and customer enquiries to enhance their knowledge and effectiveness.
- Reformulate existing products to optimise costs and find replacements for specific chemicals.
- Support the preparation of tenders by supplying necessary technical information and documentation.
- Purchase and maintain laboratory equipment as needed to support ongoing research and development activities.
Qualifications:
- HND, Degree or equivalent industrial experience
Experience:
- Several years in formulation of polymer based products, ideally solvent based adhesives. Coating, paint, varnish and ink experience will be considered.
- PVC, PVA or polyurethane technology advantageous.
- HSE and regulatory responsibilities advantageous.
- Sourcing and cost analysis of new materials.

- Driving licence is essential due to location of rural site.
