Our client is a leading provider of heavy construction equipment and machinery, offering a wide range of premium brands and comprehensive services to the plant and construction industries. As an Area Sales Manager, you will be responsible for driving sales growth and expanding our customer base within your designated region. You will develop and execute a strategic sales plan, building strong relationships with key stakeholders in the construction and plant sectors. This role involves a combination of field sales, account management, and business development, focusing on achieving sales targets and delivering excellent customer service.

Description

  • Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement a sales strategy for your region, aligned with company goals and objectives. Identify new business opportunities and ensure consistent growth in revenue.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, understanding their needs and offering tailored solutions. Act as a trusted advisor to clients in the construction and plant sectors.
  • Account Management: Manage key accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction, retention, and repeat business. Provide ongoing support, resolving customer queries and offering advice on equipment and services.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market demands to position our client effectively. Gather and analyse market intelligence to identify new opportunities.
  • Product Knowledge: Develop in-depth knowledge of the range of machinery, equipment, and services to effectively promote and sell to customers. Provide product demonstrations and technical advice when required.
  • Sales Reporting & Forecasting: Monitor and report on sales performance, preparing accurate forecasts and pipelines. Provide regular updates to the Sales Director on progress and market conditions.
  • Networking & Events: Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings. Network with key industry professionals to build a strong presence in the market.

Profile

  • Proven experience in a sales role within the construction equipment, plant machinery, or heavy equipment industry.
  • Strong understanding of the plant and construction sectors and the ability to sell technical solutions.
  • Demonstrable success in meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and build long-term client relationships.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, with a strong results-driven mentality.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and other relevant sales tools.
  • Full UK driving license (or relevant for location) and willingness to travel extensively within the designated area.
