An industry leader in the design and manufacture of advanced non-conventional hole drilling technologies for the Aerospace, Defence, and power generation markets are looking for an Applications Engineer. This company delivers complex turnkey solutions to a wide range of global customers and has strong links to various universities and technical institutions with the aim of creating and developing new technologies for the next generation of hole drilling applications.

The role:

The role covers a wide range of machining technologies including EDM, Laser & Electrochemical machining. A successful candidate will be responsible for delivering turnkey solutions to the customer from technical presales to customer handover and sign off. The key areas of the work include Customer liaison, Tooling and Fixturing design using a 3d CAD Package, Programming CNC control systems using CAM software, On machine process development of customer applications, conducting customer acceptance sessions, Knowledge transfer to the customer and delivering training sessions.

Requirements

• Relevant degree qualification or similar qualification with relevant professional experience

• Experience in machine tool operation & CNC programming. 5 Axis is preferable.

• Experience with CNC Control systems, Ideally Fanuc 

• Experience using CAD/CAM packages, Ideally Autodesk Inventor & EdgeCAM 

• Willingness to travel (domestic and abroad) for customer support & training

• Ability to read and interpret complex Engineering drawings and should have a deep understanding of geometric tolerancing and complex datum systems.

• IT literate with Microsoft office

• Self-motivated to work independently to achieve customer expectations. 

• Must also work as part of a larger team with members across multiple disciplines (Controls, Electronics, Mechanical Design, Software Development & Project Management)

• Good presentation skills. Must be confident presenting about technical topics and delivering customer training.
