Hays Education are proud to be working with a great co-educational school in South Leicestershire who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their expanding team of specialised TAs. The school is looking to increase their numbers of SEN teaching assistants as the school has seen a big influx of SEN children joining. This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to children with severe autism and social, emotional, and mental health needs to assist in their educational and social development.
  • Provide classroom assistance while in lesson, aiding students where necessary.
  • Assist the class teacher in setting up the lesson and preparing any resources.
  • Assist in promoting positive behaviour throughout the school, implementing different strategies as needed.
  • Provide support to children outside of lesson time and in any extra-curriculum activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to enhance the students' learning environment.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Individual Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Monitor and record student progress, ensuring any changes or concerns are communicated to the relevant parties.
  • Some elements of personal care will be included within this role.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience as a teaching assistant is essential.
  • Experience in supporting SEMH needs is essential.
  • Experience providing 1:1 support is desirable.
  • A passion for working with children and a commitment to inclusive education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A relevant teaching assistant or childcare qualification would be advantageous, though not essential.
