JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Foodbank Coordinator who has excellent communication and organisational skills and an understanding of the barriers and challenges facing individuals within deprived communities.

Working as part of the Neighbourhood Support Team you will coordinate and develop the foodbank service.

As a Foodbank Coordinator you will manage the storage and distribution of goods, and work with a range of organisations to establish referral processes and practices. You will join a supportive and friendly team working on programmes that have a positive impact on the lives of people living in the community.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Foodbank Coordinator will include:

  • Manage the storage and distribution of goods
  • Manage collection and delivery of goods
  • Managing relationships and contracts with external suppliers
  • Manage and coordinate volunteer and sessional staff hours allocated to ensure effective coordination of programme
  • Actively promote volunteering opportunities: recruiting, inducting and supporting active volunteers to the programme
  • Extend the reach of the programme by working with a range of organisations and key agencies to establish referral processes and practices
  • Plan, deliver and support annual food collection campaigns and donations
  • Promote healthier eating and in particular, extending the life of fresh produce through cooking / freezing and meal planning
  • Manage, monitor and develop procedures for effective food safety and hygiene
  • Develop, implement and maintain effective monitoring and recording systems
  • Support the Service Manager to maintain accurate budgets and financial records especially for monitoring funding grant returns
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, training and events
  • Undertake administrative and maintenance duties that assist in the smooth running of the base
  • Work outside normal office hours and at weekends as and when required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Full and clean UK driving Licence
  • Experience of working in the charitable/voluntary sector
  • Experience of working in a busy environment
  • Experience of working in a frontline customer facing role
  • Excellent organisational skills and experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong ICT skills especially with Microsoft Office
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt and act accordingly to situations
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure when dealing with challenging situations
  • Good time management skills to be able to support the needs of multiple people
  • Ability to make good, positive relationships with people, their families along with external agencies and partners
  • Ability to keep accurate records and a good understanding of the importance of data
  • An interest in helping other people, regardless of their circumstances
  • Passionate about tackling poverty, deprivation and injustice and wanting to actively contribute to helping those in need
  • Trustworthy, reliable and able to keep matters confidential
  • A high level of patience and emotional resilience
  • Ability to contribute effectively to a small team

  • Knowledge and experience of supporting vulnerable clients
