Job Role: Mechanical Design Engineer (Graduate)
Location: Leicester

Shift: Day shift
Salary: 25k - 30k

The Role:

To be responsible for the design and detailing of automation equipment and special purpose machines as well as identify and set up test apparatus for high-risk areas of design.

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • To create and assess design concepts at sales quotation stage to reduce risks, costs, lead times
  • To attend sales handover meetings and commit to an overall project plan
  • To understand and commit to the project budget and time scales and assist the Lead Engineer in achieving the overall goal
  • To visit customer sites as appropriate to fully understand their requirements and then document and communicate all such requirements to the customer and internal staff.
  • To perform design and detailing functions for projects, using 3D CAD packages
  • To ensure design bill of materials are produced on time and within budget
  • To assist the electrical design process
  • To compile a build folder and communicate build details to machine tool fitters to ensure an efficient build process
  • To pro-actively address and provide solutions to problems identified during development
  • To provide support to the Project Manager throughout the project including attendance at customer site

The Candidate:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Must be self-motivating with a 'can do' attitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
  • Desire to combine practical application with a theoretical approach
  • Prepared to travel within the UK and possibly overseas if necessary
