Our client is part of a well-established global organisation who manufacture a wide variety of specialist products for industries such as metrology, aerospace and communications.

They are currently seeking to appoint a Production Supervisor to be based at their site just outside Leicester.

The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for the Safety, Quality and Delivery of all manufacturing departments utilising the department cell meetings to track daily outputs, capture actions, assign owners/deadlines and drive through.

Key Duties

  • Attend the Operations Cell meeting to report upwards department performance and escalate any issues captured at department level
  • Supervise the Production Technicians and provide technical and hands-on support to the team to help them meet their SQDCG goals
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized (5S) workplace is provided for all employees
  • Update work instructions and standard operating procedure documents.
  • Identify processing defects and understand the possible causes suggesting and making changes to the process to avoid their re-occurrence
  • Assist with the scheduling and planning of work through the department to provide completed substrates to the next department to plan
  • Participate in 5S improvement activities

Requirements

  • A solid understanding of manufacturing/fabrication principles, preferably with experience of working in the optical industry
  • ILM Level 3 NVQ in Managing People
  • ONC/GCSE level mathematics
  • Engineering or physics degree
