De Montfort University (Leicester) is looking to recruit a creative and talented Senior Media Officer to play a key role in identifying and delivering opportunities for the university across national and international media channels.

Faculty / Directorate

The Marketing and Communications Directorate offers full-service marketing and communications support to the university, comprising reputation management; brand development and oversight; recruitment campaigns; CRM and conversion campaigns; schools and colleges engagement; enquiry management and follow up; internal communications; media relations; design and publications development; Faculty marketing and recruitment; web and digital development; and market insight.

Role

Reporting to the Press and PR Manager, the role is part of the Communications team, within the Marketing and Communications Directorate. You will work alongside other senior media officers and a senior public affairs officer to help find, tell and pitch the best news stories within the university, helping to maintain and build the university’s reputation locally, nationally and internationally.

Working directly with senior members of the university within allocated work areas, the Senior Media Officer will work in a high-performing team to deliver high-quality media communications in line with university priorities.

The Senior Media Officer will provide professional media and communications advice to academic and other colleagues at all levels across DMU to help protect and promote the university’s reputation and enhance its profile.

Ideal Candidate

You will have significant professional experience as a newspaper journalist or as a PR professional with experience of working in media or PR in a large, complex organisation.
