Category Buyer

We are currently seeking a Category Buyer to join the Procurement Department of a leading company in the food manufacturing industry. This pivotal role involves managing procurement processes and optimising supplier relationships & contracts. It is an excellent opportunity for professionals with substantial experience in sourcing products internationally.

Day-to-day Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Procurement Manager to create and implement a Commodity Risk Management plan.
  • Take ownership of a defined procurement area, ensuring 100% On-Time delivery of raw materials and finished goods to customers.
  • Resolve accounts payable queries and close out outstanding invoices efficiently.
  • Review and draft supplier contracts to ensure favourable terms.
  • Manage the RFI and RFQ processes, finalising recommendations for leadership approval.
  • Strategically source new suppliers and manage existing supplier relationships through effective vendor management processes.
  • Participate in the annual budget process, identifying potential risks and opportunities, and develop strategies to minimise risks and capitalise on opportunities.
  • Enhance category efficiencies in line with organisational procurement policies and manage relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Finalise supplier claims leading to credit notes and manage new supplier setups through the master data management process.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in sourcing and contract management.
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier management and establishing long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Proficiency in ERP and MRP tools.
  • Strong negotiation skills and high competency in Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Proactive, can-do attitude with high self-awareness.
  • Experience within an FMCG environment is highly desirable.
