The Civils & Infrastructure division at Ford & Stanley are proud to be working with a highly reputable Midlands-based civil engineering contractor. Our client have been awarded their biggest ever order; a £10m+ drainage package as part of a £100m highways scheme in Leicestershire. Due to the size and scope of the project, we are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to ensure successful self-delivery of the project. As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for contract negotiation, compensation events, CVRs, cost management, producing BOQs, cost planning and cost reporting etc. As a headline project, you will have the support of the wider commercial team including a Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor and Trainee Quantity Surveyor, and as such, there will be an opportunity to impact the careers of junior staff through mentorship.

Our client are an award-winning, regional contractor based in Leicestershire. Key Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for providing effective financial and contractual support on our client’s projects.
  • Strive to maximise profitability by identifying ways to reduce costs or add value to projects.
  • Place and oversee all subcontract work packages within contracts, liaising with the Estimating Team to negotiate the best possible rates.
  • Manage the quantum spend of all subcontractors by performing monthly measures against claimed invoices.
  • Provide support to the Site Agents and Engineers by identifying varied and additional works, as well as assisting with the production of final accounts.
  • Maintain records and produce a monthly measure for each project
  • Produce monthly reports for the Contracts Manager
  • Reconcile and price variation orders
  • Keep up-to-date with developments in quantity surveying

Salary & Package

  • Competitive salary of up to £75,000 depending on experience level
  • Car allowance of £6250 or a company car 
  • Remote working 1-day per week

Key criteria to be considered

Essential: Experience in quantity surveying. 
Essential: Experience in self-delivery NEC civil engineering contracts
Essential: Understanding of MOM and CESMM measurement methods.
Essential: Ability to effectively negotiate with clients and key stakeholders.
Essential: Full UK Drivers Licence
Desirable: Relevant degree in quantity surveying and member of RICS/ICES
