Mechanical Maintenance Fitter required in Leigh, for a successful, medium sized company established for over 100 years.

The role

  • To carry out the most appropriate and effective repairs to mechanical plant in line with engineering standards and legislative requirements (ISO Standards etc.)
  • To carry out test and inspection on mechanical plant in line with testing timetables.
  • To maintain stock spares to the agreed levels to provide continuous running of all essential mechanical plant and equipment.
  • To support the Planned Preventative Maintenance system, ensuring actions are completed in line with requirements.
  • To assist in installation and maintenance of engineering projects
  • Under the guidance of the Manufacturing Manager, contribute to engineering drawings and documentation.
  • To assess the risks associated with all work carried out and take adequate precautions.
  • To preserve product quality by considering the opportunities for product contamination and product failure; taking appropriate control measures to prevent defects occurring.
  • To drive for a proactive maintenance system to decrease reactive maintenance downtime.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • To maintain a good standard of housekeeping within all working areas.
  • To support process improvements and be receptive to change and develop working practices within the Engineering team.

You will need the following skills and experience as the Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

  • Minimum of HND/HNC in a relevant Engineering field with a Time served Apprenticeship.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment to challenging deadlines.
  • Background in Manufacturing is essential.
  • Experience of mechanical maintenance, preferably in a heavy engineering environment
  • Experience of tooling and bench work Skills
  • Strong MS Office, particularly Excel skills.
  • Excellent problem solver.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to prioritise, multitask whilst retaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ability to use AutoCAD is desirable.
  • Self-motivated and flexible.

You will work 2 rotating shifts 6/2 and 2/10 although on the Friday you'll do 6/11 or 11/4 so that you work a 35 hour week
