Job SummaryThe role is to drive a long wheelbase van, and deliver goods to our customers, ensuring deliveries are completed on time, in full. Our customers are based all over the UK, but the regular routes include the home counties, London (including central) and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
- Safely drive and operate a van for the delivery of goods to designated locations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working order.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring they are secured properly for transport.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and records of mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while driving.
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks on the vehicle as needed, utilising mechanical knowledge to identify potential issues.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Van Driver or in a similar role is preferred.
- Familiarity with commercial driving regulations and safety practices is essential.
- Experience in warehouse operations or as a delivery driver is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills are required to liaise effectively with team members and clients.
- Age re insurance: OVER 23 must have had licence for over 2 years. Experience driving vans is a must and within London would be beneficial.
- Points on licence: Ideally 0 no more than 3
Qualifications & Checks:
- Must be able to clearly read, write and communicate in English.
- Strong math skills and have some computer skills.
- DBS clearance will be required due to some of our clients.
Hours:
- Hours are full time Monday to Friday 0700-1630 however they must be flexible to work outside of these. Leaving from home no earlier than 0530 and working no later than 1800.
