Purchasing Assistant
Permanent – Full time
Salary: £26k - £27k
40 per week Monday – Friday with a flexible start time of between 07:00 and 09:00 and an end time of between 15:30 and 17:00.
Summary
Our client is a wide world leading Manufacturer in the public transport industry, All design and development and the majority of production, is carried out in their excellent working environment based in Lewes.
Growing with speed our client have had significant increase in sales over the last 3 years which is having a direct impact on the operational Teams, there for they are looking for a Purchasing Assistant with Enthusiasm and hard working ethics.
This is a great opportunity for a purchasing assistant to a join our busy team and help to develop and evolve our purchasing department to a higher level of efficiency to meet the growing demand on the business. For the right candidate there will be opportunities to progress towards a buyer role and beyond.
The successful candidate will need the necessary experience to interpret the ERP system and place purchase orders which meet the delivery dates and needs of the business.
Requirements
- Experience of working in an electronics manufacturing company.
- Data Analysis Skills using excel
- Experience with ERP systems, including raising purchase orders.
- Ability to work under own initiative
- Flexible, positive and proactive
- Communication with Vendors

- Keen attention to detail
- Exceptional organisational skills with a practical and methodical approach to prioritisation
- Proficiency in multitasking under pressure
- High standards of professionalism and work ethic with a positive can-do attitude
- Demonstrate flexibility in daily tasks and training
Desired Skills
- Experience in electronic components would be very beneficial
- Strong knowledge and ability aligned to planning
- Experience of Microsoft D365 would be beneficial
- Willingness to take a hands-on approach as needed
- Demonstrated enthusiasm with a proactive initiative
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office with ability to learn new systems efficiently
- Experience of working within cross functional teams
Role Tasks and Duties – not limited to
- Progress and expedite open orders
- Regular review of production shortages and overdue purchase orders
- Update confirmed delivery dates on system
- Maintain Supplier monitoring documents & sending out supplier score cards.
- Update pricing agreements on ERP system where required
- Place purchase and expedite purchase orders for purchase requisitions
- Maintain MRP part and purchase order information where required
- Ensure invoice queries are resolved to allow payment can be released in line with agreed
- terms
- Effectively communicate with other departments including production, R&D, sales, stores
- and accounts
- Establish and build good working relationships with suppliers
