Your new companyOur client is a small consultancy based in Lancashire who work with a range of clients, including private individuals, developers and housebuilders, to local authorities and conservation bodies such as Wildlife Trusts. In this role you'll get the chance, with the support of their experienced team, to really make your mark. You'll benefit from the opportunity to see projects through preliminary ecological appraisal to mitigation, habitat creation / enhancement and over-seeing of long-term management, as needed. Your new roleYour main responsibilities in this role will include conducting Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), protected species surveys, Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) and Assessments of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). What you'll need to succeed

  • A degree or equivalent in an ecology-related subject.
  • Good working knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques, including protected species surveys and mitigation.
  • Good botanical skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of the scope and completion of PEA and EcIA.
  • Excellent written communication skills and an ability to produce accurate technical reports to a professional standard.
  • Ability to handle data (i.e. wintering and breeding bird survey data), interpret and analyse results.
  • Enthusiasm for the role and strengths in leading / coordinating work with graduates and subcontractors, including ECoW roles.
  • Strong project management skills and willingness to work under the pressure of project deadlines.
  • Willingness to work unsocial hours to meet survey timing requirements.
  • Familiarity with QGIS and Biodiversity Metric Calculation Tools.
  • Driving licence and vehicle used for work purposes.
