An independent Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy based just outside Belfast are on the lookout for a Structural Engineer with around 3-5 years of design experience to join the team in a permanent capacity.


The company, based in Lisburn, are home to almost 20 engineers across both the Civil and Structural disciplines and have a real variety of project work, including Commercial and Retail projects as well as work in the Sports and Leisure industries and also the Healthcare sector, amongst others.

For this position, the ideal Structural Engineer will require:

  • Minimum 2:1 degree in related engineering or associated technical degree
  • Minimum 3+ years relevant experience in a consultancy environment
  • Writing of engineering reports
  • Undertaking technical and feasibility studies including site investigations
  • Ability with specific computer software for developing detailed designs.
  • Undertaking and understanding complex calculations
  • Knowledge of legal requirements
  • Experience of project Health and safety requirements
  • Experience of the sustainability and environmental impact of projects
  • Experience of wider project issues


Duties and Responsibilities of a Structural Engineer:

  • Project Design
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Liaising with clients and a variety of professionals including Architects and Contractors
  • Developing and solving design problems
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Responsible for elements of Project Delivery
  • Responsible for elements of Project Quality Assurance
  • Contribute to Company Objectives by achieving individual KPIs as laid out by line manager.
