Willow Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Liskeard Community Hospital is seeking an experienced and compassionate Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist with a specialized background in stroke rehabilitation. Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver specialized speech and language therapy assessments and interventions to patients recovering from stroke.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans that address each patient’s communication and swallowing needs.
  • Provide training and support to patients, their families, and other healthcare staff on communication strategies and swallowing techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring that all interventions and progress are clearly documented.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of stroke rehabilitation services within the unit.
  • Actively participate in case discussions, team meetings, and professional development activities within the unit.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
  • Education: Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Registration: Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience: Demonstrable experience working with stroke patients in a rehabilitation setting.
  • Skills:
    • Strong clinical skills in assessing and managing communication and swallowing difficulties in stroke patients.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
    • Ability to develop and implement treatment plans and adjust them based on patient progress.
Desirable Attributes:
