Our client a prominent UK-based firm of chartered accountants and business advisers operating for over 50 years and sit within the Top 50. With offices in London and Essex, the firm offers a comprehensive range of services, including audit and assurance, tax compliance and advisory, corporate finance and business consultancy.

They are seeking an Audit Senior who will oversee the audit process for each engagement, ensuring effective supervision of semi-senior and junior staff. This includes leading teams on assignments and reporting directly to the relevant manager or partner. The role involves working closely with partners and managers, primarily within the audit team, handling a diverse client portfolio, including entrepreneurial owner-managed businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and some listed clients. Additionally, there will be opportunities to participate in ad hoc specialist assignments as they arise.

Requirements

  • Must be Qualified ACA or ACCA.
  • Desire to work in 100% Audit position.
  • Up to date working knowledge of financial reporting, accounting standards, auditing standards, company law and a good basic knowledge of corporate tax to enable draft tax computations to be reviewed.
  • Previous experience in a similar role and ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Working on a diverse portfolio of clients including large UK groups, privately owned limited companies, LLP’s, and listed entities.
  • Responsible for planning, execution (compliance and substantive testing, analytical review, etc.) and completion of audit work to a high standard.
  • Effective supervision of semi-senior and junior staff, so must be able to train juniors during an audit, as well as delegate, monitor and review their work.
  • Will take full responsibility of each audit assignment and will be responsible for completing the audit work within the agreed timescale with the support and guidance from the relevant manager/partner.
  • Preparation and implementation of high-quality work programmes. Attendance and contribution at external planning and completion audit meetings.
  • Responsible for dealing with technical issues or seeking guidance where necessary.
  • Agreeing adjustments with clients and liaising with our accounts team to update with the disclosure requirements. Auditing tax computations.
  • Drafting management letters and reports.
  • Keeping senior management informed of progress.
  • Responsible for the delivery of the audit output within specified budget timescale.
  • Manage general office-based day to day duties, as required including being a buddy for our new intakes.
