Financial Controller

Resourcery Group are working in partnership with a well-known and highly regarded Liverpool business as they look to hire a Financial Controller. Reporting to the Group Finance Director, this is a senior role and a significant hire for the organisation. The Financial Controller will manage and lead the Finance Operations and Management Accounting teams, whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, improving systems and providing strategic financial guidance to management.

Based at their Liverpool office but with flexible and hybrid working available, the Financial Controller will work closely with the Group Finance Director and senior stakeholders to drive business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain financial accounting systems to ensure accurate and reliable financial reporting.
  • Management and oversight of the cash, billing, accounts payable and credit control functions both in the UK and overseas.
  • Own the management and financial reporting processes maintaining accuracy and transparency in all account balances
  • Effectively manage and lead the team
  • Provide insight and analysis into key aspects of performance, to highlight issues and drive improved behaviours.
  • Manage cashflow on a daily basis
  • Own the forecasts and 3 year plans for P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow. 
  • Own the treasury function which consists of numerous bank accounts for both office and client monies
  • Lead central budget process including salary reviews and bonus setting.
  • Provide financial analysis and insight to support strategic decision-making and business planning.

Key Requirements

  • Extensive Team Management experience
  • Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or ACCA is highly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior finance role, preferably as a Financial Controller or similar position.
  • Proven expertise in financial management, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide strategic financial guidance.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities to effectively manage a finance team.

Day-to-day

  • Review and analyse financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team to ensure professional growth and development.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance and best practices.
