An industry leading service business based in the heart of Liverpool City Centre is recruiting a Financial Controller to manage their finance function. This is an exciting opportunity to join the company as they embark on a phase of significant growth and expansion.

You will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial health, managing the accounting functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing financial insights to the leadership team. You will play a key role in budgeting, financial planning, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Oversee the reporting of financial results to Group, in line with Group reporting guidelines and IFRS
  • Oversee the preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP
  • Prepare detailed explanations for variances.
  • Lead the budgeting process, working closely with department heads to develop financial plans that align with company objectives.
  • Create and maintain accurate cash flow forecasts to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decisions and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure all accounting processes comply with legal requirements and Group processes
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Coordinate audits with external auditors and ensure timely completion of audits
  • Manage tax filings, including VAT, corporation tax, WHT and any other applicable taxes.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial and legal requirements
  • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities
  • Drive continuous improvement of financial processes, systems, and reporting tools.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified.
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and advanced financial modelling.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing a finance team.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner to non-financial stakeholders
  • Knowledge of GAAP / IFRS and relevant tax laws and regulations
